Competition Rules

Entries required by the 9th March 2012.  Entry fee is £25 per player for entries received (with full payment) by 9 February 2012, £30 for entries received thereafter.

  • Players must supply their own terrain pieces, which must be to an acceptable standard. Additionally all figures must be representative and must be painted and based to an acceptable standard. Umpires will have the discretion to remove unsightly or unrepresentative items.
  • Players must be present and ready to start all matches at the appointed time. Where a player has a reasonable excuse for arriving late the match start will be delayed by up to 30 minutes. After which time the effected player will be awarded a bye and maximum points. No player will be awarded more than one bye for any reason.
  • If a player resigns from a game at any stage after the first set up dice have been rolled their opponents will be awarded maximum points.
  • A modified Swiss Chess system will operate throughout the competition. Where possible players may not play against fellow club/Team players in the first 2 rounds, nor players whom they have played in earlier rounds, nor against any relatives in the first degree of consanguinity. Thus a player cannot be matched against his/her spouse, parent, brother, sister, and/or child. This event counts towards the BHGS National Rankings
  • A trophy will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd & 3rd placed players. players in any period in which there are at least 10 players, 1st and 2nd only if less than 10 players. Awards will also be made to the highest placed Junior and Female players.
  • The entry fee is £25/£30 per player (see above). . Entry can only be made by sending payment. No pre booking by e-mail or other means is allowed. Cheques made payable to  “BHGS”. Sponsored or reduced entry fees are available to the following; Players under 18 years of age are allowed free entry, and full time students are allowed entry at half price. All offers are restricted to BHGS members (at 1 st January), who are taking part in a historical period. For legal reasons we are unable to accept entry from a player under 18 years of age at the date of the competition unless accompanied by a responsible adult taking part in the same theme.
  • A prize draw will be held at the end of the event, using competitors ID Badges. The lucky winner will be awarded free entry including a budget accommodation package at this years BRITCON. The winner must be in present to receive the prize or it will be re-drawn
  • Admission to the tournament is at the sole discretion of the organisers and their decision on all matters is final. An application to enter denotes acceptance of the event rules. Entry fees and any queries to be addressed to the BHGS, 28 Poplar Close, Haverhill, Suffolk, CB9 9EJ
