19th Century Competition Notes.

The Rules used will be Principles of War, 2nd Edition (Due out May 2003).

Players will select matching pairs of armies from any section of the current PoW army lists, if players cannot obtain a matching pair of armies please contact the umpire and he will see what he can do.

The players will have 3 hours in which to fight the game, this will be counted from the start of the Game set-up.

 Game Set-up.

This phase of the game must not exceed 30 minutes.

The player with the least points on the Swiss chess system will select which pair of armies to use the second player chooses which of the two armies they wish to use.

The game set-up will be as in the Army Lists.

 All orders and terrain objectives once written should be placed in the envelope provided by the umpire, and if the players have any questions about their   opponents orders during the game the Umpire should be called and he will adjudicate.

Roads through woods and built up areas do not negate the line of sight or strategic movement penalties for the terrain, also roads through built up areas            do not negate movement penalties.

The crest line of a hill continues off the hill and units must cross this crest line to see units behind the hill.

 End of Game.

1) The player with the initiative may not start phase 4 of their bound within 15 minutes of the end of the game.

 2) The results calculation will be detailed in the Army Lists.

A modified Swiss Chess system will operate throughout the competition. Where possible players will not play against fellow club players in the first 2 rounds, nor players whom they have played in earlier rounds, nor against any relatives in the first degree of consanguinity. Thus a player cannot be matched against his/her spouse, parent, brother, sister, and/or child.
