SOA Doubles results 2008

The results of the Chester round of SOA Doubles are now available on the website

BHGS Rankings

The latest DBM and FOG rankings have been added to the website.

As a result of changes to the tournament circuit and the introduction of a number of new events the current tournament weightings for rankings are no longer appropriate. As a result the rankings will now be
calculated with the following weightings:

Grand Slam events - Britcon and The BHGS Challenge both worth a potential 120 ranking points

Major events - Warfare and Roll Call both worth a potential 100 ranking points

Minor events - All remaining events worth a potential 80 ranking points

The significant changes are:
* Derby drops to a minor due to reduced numbers in the DBM competition and the likely absence of alternative DBMM and/or FoG tournaments at the event.
* The Northern league now counts as several minor tournaments rather than one because the overall league for 2008 will be a multi ruleset tournament making ranking it almost impossible.
* Several new one day events are included as minor tournaments, UK Game Expo FoG, Rampage DBMM, Game 08 FoG etc.

SOA DOUBLES 2008

This year's BHGS Doubles events will include DBMM, DBM, FOW and FOG competitions.  For DBMM at these venues the decision has been taken to trial an entirely new format, the “Pick’n’Mix Teams” event. This will be paired games, with players able to swap control of the team's armies between themselves from one round to another, and players can also be substituted between games.

DBMM is a new system and the Pick'n'Mix idea is to maximise opportunities for everyone to join in (even if you can't come for a whole weekend), to enable players to try out different armies and scales and to meet many different opponents.  We're not intending to take things too seriously! We would very much welcome feedback and suggestions for the new competition.

All queries and enquiries (we hope that there will be lots) should please be addressed to Dave Mather or Tim Child, c/o the BHGS or DBMM Yahoo! Mailing groups.

14th January 2008

New BHGS Mailing List

We have set up a new BHGS mailing list with the name BHGS Wargaming at http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/BHGS_Wargaming/ in order to facilitate discussion on all wargaming competitions organised and run by the BHGS and not just DBM as is implied by the current list name.

DBMM Army List Books
DBMM list books which have been published at least four weeks prior to the competition start. With the publication of revised army lists for DBMM, and associated notes on their use for DBM, the published DBMM book three can be used for BHGS competitions in 2008.

For DBM competitions the current DBM list books may also be used throughout the year, and in addition any DBMM list books which have been published at least four weeks prior to the competition start.

For DBMM competitions it will not be permitted to use a DBM list book after this period, though lists already accepted will not need to be changed. Accordingly, if you want that killer list - get it to the list checkers early!

In all cases the players should state which version they are using when they submit their list
.
