A demonstration of the new Field of Glory Napoleonic Wars (FOG(N) rules. In the final stages of development FOG(N) provides a Corps level game design for the period 1792-1815. FOG(Ancients ) players will recognise much of the terminology used in them but they are not as such a build on those rules or on the forthcoming FOG( Renaissance)rules. Designed to support 15mm and 28mm games in club evenings and in tournament play the rules will be backed by comprehensive army lists of all the combatants major and minor based on historical orders of battle and army organisations and their performance. The points system and bespoke army list tables also enable the rules to support larger historical battles .Manoeuvre, maintaining order and effective cooperation between the three main arms infantry artillery and cavalry are key elements.
At Britcon the authors will run demonstration games in 15mm and 28mm including the historical battle of Sacile using the rules.
Sacile
The Battle of Sacile took place on April 16, 1809, between 40,000 Austrians under the Archduke John, and 36,000 French and Italians under Eugène de Beauharnais, Viceroy of Italy.
In April 1809, Austria declared war on France. Archduke John crossed the border into Italy with his army forcing the French to retreat and regroup behind the Tagliamento River. However, pre-empting the threat posed by the troops of Archduke John, Prince Eugène had already positioned his troops on the border in Friuli and Venetia. In particular, General Grenier's 3rd division was positioned in the town of Sacile. Prince Eugène organised a defence of the town in preparation of a counter-attack.
The Austrians arrived at Sacile on 16 April, having been delayed by a string of minor actions at Pordenone and Ospedaletto. The majority of the fighting occurred in the vicinity of the newly constructed bridges over the river. Fighting lasted throughout the morning until an Austrian flank movement, which menaced the French line of retreat, forced Eugène to retire. The French fell back to the Piave River where both sides would meet again.

It is with deepest sadness we pass on the news that Bert Rose, The chairmen of the Gloucester Wargames Club, has sadly passed away after a long illness. The funeral will be this thursday at Gloucester Crematorium at 2.30pm. Bert played wargames for many years- he was a founding member of the Gloucester Club and although he 'retired' from competitions for several years he was still a wargamer at heart. He was a true gentleman and will be sadly missed. A wreath (or donation, once the family's wishes are known) is being sent by the Gloucester club on behalf of all wargamers

Attila vs the Roman Empire
451 AD General Background
The Battle of the Catalaunian Plains (or Fields), also called the Battle of Châlons or Battle of the Campus Mauriacus, took place in 451 between a coalition led by the Roman general Flavius Aetius and the Visigothic king Theodoric I on one side and the Huns and their allies commanded by Attila on the other. It was one of the last major military operations of the Western Roman Empire and marks the apex of the career of Flavius Aetius.
