*BHGS Challenge 2nd-3rd April 2010*

The dates for the BHGS Challenge 2010 will be 2nd-3rd April 2010.  *This is the Friday and Saturday of the long Easter weekend in 2010.*  We realise that the Easter weekend will not be great scheduling for some, but this year we basically had no choice for reasons beyond our control.  We are hoping that holding it on the Friday and Saturday will enable some to come who wouldn't be able to make Saturday/Sunday over Easter.

For those planning on playing at the IWC in Athens in 2010 The Challenge is the weekend beforehand.

Sad News from Gloucester Wargames club

It is with deepest sadness we pass on the news that Bert Rose, The chairmen of the Gloucester Wargames Club, has sadly passed away after a long illness. The funeral will be this thursday at Gloucester Crematorium at 2.30pm. Bert played wargames for many years- he was a founding member of the Gloucester Club and although he 'retired' from competitions for several years he was still a wargamer at heart. He was a true gentleman and will be sadly missed. A wreath (or donation, once the family's wishes are known) is being sent by the Gloucester club on behalf of all wargamers
.

Chalons Sur Marne
Attila vs the Roman Empire

451 AD General Background

The Battle of the Catalaunian Plains (or Fields), also called the Battle of Châlons or Battle of the Campus Mauriacus, took place in 451 between a coalition led by the Roman general Flavius Aetius and the Visigothic king Theodoric I on one side and the Huns and their allies commanded by Attila on the other. It was one of the last major military operations of the Western Roman Empire and marks the apex of the career of Flavius Aetius.

What, When and Where ?

As a prelude to the BHGS Challenge a massive Field of Glory game will be run on the Friday Practice day , with co-author Simon Hall organising and umpiring the game.4000 points a side – so the equivalent of 10 FOG singles armies on a single battlefield.

The table will be roughly 20 feet wide and the game is likely to feature 15 or more players. The game will start around 3pm on Friday April 3rd and is likely to run well into the evening. Feel free to come and spectate and the players will be more than happy to have a few more dice-rollers join in the fun. Will Attila or Flavius Aetius carry the day?

If you want to take part in altering history please contact Simon Hall
