The following is an explanation of the revised Renaissance ranking system which will be in effect from the start of 2002.  We aim to publish the fully updated Rankings after each eligible competition. The BHGS will award a prize to the No 1 Seed at the end of each year.

The system is based on the number of players in a competition and the player's finishing position. The following bonus points are awarded for  for finishing in the top 3:
1st +3 pts
2nd +2pts
3rd + 1pt

Thus in a 10 player competition:

1st place = 13pts
2nd place = 11pts
3rd place = 9pts
4th place = 7pts
5th place = 6pts
6th place = 5pts
7th place = 4pts
8th place = 3pts
9th place = 2pts
10th place = 1pt
The last player will always receive 1pt and the winner will always receive points equal to the number of players +3.

Simplistically, the more people in a competition, the more points are available.  The more competitions you play, the better you'll do.

As from this year we will have a new moderator Pete Dalby, and I am sure that you will all wish to pass on a very big vote of thanks to Kevin Johnson who is taking a well deserved break.

The rankings will provide the most up to date guide of how players are performing relative to each other.

The events whose results at present contribute to the rankings are as follows:

DBR Doubles Masters

Roll Call

IWF World Individual Championships

Nationals (Britcon)

The World Team Championships (Derby)

Warfare

These are the only competitions for which we currently have full results. If you have full results for any other DBR competition comprising of at least 4 rounds please inform us and we will incorporate them. If your name is spelt incorrectly, or is incomplete or you appear as 2 separate people, then let us know, we can only work from the information supplied by the competition organisers.

If you have any comments or suggestions to improve these rankings we would like to hear from you.

Please check your score to make sure that a mistake has not been made.

Please send any correspondence to Pete Dalby, the Renaissance Rankings Administrator
