The following is an explanation of the new Ranking system which will operate from the beginning of 2002
The following is an explanation of the Ranking system.
The Rankings will continue to run covering all tournaments played overthe preceding 12 month period. This will continue to roll, say from April to April, or July to July. It is important to remember that if event organisers do not supply the information we cannot rank the competition. We know that this can be a source of disappointment but we are obviously unable to take these events into account. The rankings will provide the most up to date guide as to how all players are performing relative to each other. To emphasise major tournament singles play, Grand Slam and Major scores will potentially make up the bulk of your score, and you need to enter at least 6 Tournaments for a full ranking score.
The points value for each tournament will be calculated as follows until further notice.
Two Grand Slam Events each worth 110 points
Britcon
BHGS Challenge
Three Major Events each worth 100 points
Roll Call
Warfare
Team Championships
All other Minor Events each worth 80 points
including all Doubles
(Various) Events.
Note that a GS or Major score cannot be watered
down by lots of Doubles.
See Below.
First place at a Grand Slam will be worth 110, last place 1 point.
First Place at a Major will be worth 100, last place 1
First Place at a Minor will be worth 80, last place 1
The other places will be distributed equally between those positions with appropriate scores.
To get the best possible score you must enter SIX tournaments over the 12 month period. If you enter less than six tournaments your score will be reduced by one sixth for each tournament under six you have not entered. Any Grand Slam or Major event entered will make up a minimum of one sixth of your total score, even if you have entered more than six tournaments. Thus, if you enter all of the Grand Slams and the Majors, the Minor events will make up no more than one sixth of your total score. You do not have to enter all the Grand Slams or Majors to get a full score, but the upper limits of minor events will preclude a very high ranking.
The maximum possible ranking score is 100.
